My name is Paula Stewart. I love to work hard and play harder. As an adult, I have enjoyed competing in the martial arts, mountain bike racing, triathlons of all distances, and many other types of racing. As I grow older, it is apparent that I must do something to counter the damage I have done to my body over the years. A few years ago, some minor back pain turned into something that I could no longer relieve through chiropractic visits. I had never felt pain like that before. The yoga videos and occasional hot yoga classes that I attended while traveling were no longer enough.
I began practicing yoga regularly and immediately felt my body changing. After a few months, my knees became more flexible, my back and hip flexors loosened, and I suddenly felt a mental calmness that I wanted to keep recreating. I am inherently a happy person, but my husband noticed that the bar was being raised. My biggest take from yoga is that everyone will age, and the body will naturally deteriorate. Yoga slows the aging process and allows practitioners to enjoy a better quality of life. In my opinion, exercise is the fountain of youth. My goal is to share with others, the relief that can be found through a regular yoga practice. I am attending teacher training because I want to grow in my personal practice, but more importantly, I want to help others find the physical relief and enjoy the mental and spiritual benefits that I have found through practicing. And this is only the beginning...
